Josefina Kunstler

Artista

“Art is to spaces what love to life” JK

BIO:

JOSEFINA KUNSTLER is an international visual artist whose identity remains unknown, the pseudonym adopted by the artist in 2011, guards her privacy, the details of her private life, and widens the range of possible interpretations, freeing her work of preconceptions and liberating the viewer of situating her art among personal, cultural and aesthetical interlinkages. Here, Duchamp´s catchphrase “it is the spectator that makes the painting”, acquires a more immediate meaning.

Her abstract painting, focused on the intensity of emotions and feelings visually expresses the unknowable span of subconsciousness through a spontaneous act of creation (the act of painting).

JOSEFINA KUNSTLER has worked independently at her full-time studio practice, and her art has been very well received by collectors and buyers, specializing in commissioned works. Nowadays, hundreds of Josefina Kunstler art pieces are displayed in homes all over the world.

Media:

Acrylic and oil on canvas. As an artist, JK has focused on painting emphatically and directly.

Inspiration:

JK inspiration is existence itself and its possibilities. Each work is determined by a moment in her life, its emotions and feelings. Aesthetically, the environment that surrounds me inspires her, whether the landscape is urban or natural, its details or "micro-landscapes" that compose them.

Concept:

JK's work has an individualistic approach to art, which starts from the conception of the painting's surface as the space that covers the abyss between the image and the idea as a supreme value.

JK has concentrated on exploring painting not only as an object but also on blurring the line between art and life itself, from a reflective perspective.

Her artistic personality is positive and free, and it is expressed through lines, colors and textures.

Her interest in abstraction lies in its ability to express the indescribable. The intensity of emotions and feelings.

Style:

* Abstract expressionism. The evolution of JK's work has been influenced mainly by abstract expressionism. (Postwar New York). Given my interest in these artistic currents due to the coincidence in the need for expression and the free way to do it, she has studied in situ the work of the most representative artists of expressionism in New York, -post war art- being clear the influence on her artistic production in recent years, the MOMA collection of expressionist art. (The Museum of Modern Art, NYC – Kline, Rothko, Pollock, De Kooning, Jasper Johns, Joan Mitchell, etc), but also the work of the German artist Gerhard Richter.

"My interest in abstraction lies on its ability to express the indescribable. The intensity of emotions and feelings. The possibility of abstraction. I like to think that people relate to me through my art, that my painting offers possibilities of emotional reflection and emotions" JK
